EPC Certificates
Landlords are required to provide Energy Performance Certificates (EPC’s) to any prospective tenant when they rent. Our engineers can carry out the required energy efficiency surveys and issue EPC ratings and certificates for all your properties.

An EPC is a legal requirement for all properties when buying or renting. Properties are given an energy efficiency rating from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient) and is valid for 10 years. Since 2018 all rented properties in England and Wales (except some listed buildings) must have a minimum energy rating of E, with this rising to C by 2028.

As some properties may need significant work to improve their home energy efficiency we advise all landlords to have an initial EPC inspection so remedial works can be planned to meet the 2028 deadline.

EPC Certificates FAQs

EPC stands for Energy Performance Certificate. It assesses how energy efficient a building is on a scale from A (very efficient) to G (inefficient).

An EPC energy assessor will need access to your entire property to complete an EPC certificate. They’ll use a range of metrics to determine your property's energy efficiency, including the property's age and construction, insulation, lighting, heating and windows.

The cost of an EPC Certificate can range between £50 and £120.

An EPC Certificate is valid for 10 years and can be used multiple times for the same property as long as the rating is above an F.

An EPC survey can last anywhere between 30 minutes and an hour.
